Matthew, congrats on the new camera! . Since we have the E-M5 and EP3 I am not overly bothered by having some duplication in focal ranges.
I did get the 14-42IIR and 40-150IIR kitted with the EP3 at a very good price. Bought the 12-50 kitted with the E-M5 for monsoon shooting and because it was cheap when kitted. Before I even had the E-M5 I was able to pick up a new Pany 14-45 for $120 from a guy that got it as part of a kit( I use this one more than the other two). In my opinion, none of the mid-range are on a par to my 24-70 2.8, 17-55 2.8 (or my ex-28-70 2.8) .
I have the 20 1.7, 45 1.8 and next week (hopefully) , the 75 1.8. I also have the Pany 100-300 and Oly 9-18.
What I want is the Pany 12-35 2.8, Pany 35-100 2.8 and Pany 25 1.4... lots of money . Time to sell a few of my rarely used Nikkors.
Funny but I had my first 'rattlesnaking' with the 100-300 yesterday trying to shoot a Sunbird at close range, in the sun, on a flower blowing in the wind. It was loud enough to scare the bird . If you decide to go longer than the 40-150 (good lens) I would take a serious look at the Oly 75-300.
I may try and pick up a Pany G3 or see what a GH3 has to offer. One of my friends is using, and happy with, a G3. Then, just maybe, my wife and son will not fight over the EP3 . Cheers, Tom
