And in the interests of balancing out my share of the discussion (esp. since this is the non-Nikon forum), if I were to get a non-Nikon compact today, it would have to be an Olympus XZ-1. Why?
-Shoots RAW (and is easily ingested into third-party like CS5/6, LR3/4, etc) -Has the *FASTEST* zoom range lens on the compact market today - a 27-112 f1.8-f2.5 if I recall correctly, lets you shoot at lower ISOs when everyone else has gone home -Hotshoe allows use of either the excellent Olympus flashes or better yet, the outstanding VF-2 or VF-1 LCD eye-level Viewfinders. -Small, light, unobtrusive
