To the maximum height of the legs alone you have to add the height of the head, then the height of the camera viewfinder, the sum is not that low and I will rather bend a little than either carry a heavier tripod and/or introduce instability with the center column. I find myself using the 3001N much more than my 3021Pro, which now I keep in the trunk of my car. BTW, the 3047 3-way pan-head is the choice of many advanced amateurs and pros, good ..... and tall'.
