Early on I had a Manfrotto aluminum tripod that I thought was all I would ever need. But over time as I lugged the thing all over the southwest I soon found out how heavy it was. When I got my first Gitzo 1325 carbon fiber tripod I never looked back. I now own a Gitzo GT3541LS that I use whenever I travel by air and when I drive I bring them both along. To me there is no other option especially now that I'm hittin' 55 in a few months.
