I have a Gitzo GT 2531 and purchased a Markins M10 with the knob release. The ballhead attached to the tripod without having to purchase any additional equipment. I attached a Kirk L bracket to my camera and it works fine with the Markins head. Any Arca Swiss plate or L bracket will work with the knob release. If you get the lever release, it is better to stay with one manufacturer for your plates and L brackets. If you mix them you may have to make slight adjustments when changing from one manufacture to another.

If you like the RRS brackets there should not be any problems with the Markins knob or lever release.
