Kevin,

Are you able to return or exchange the 190? While it more than likely will not fail on you (in terms of falling apart), Neil is correct in that you would be better served with a tripod at least as sturdy as an 055. You are talking about a lot of pixel density with a D800 and a long lens, and it will not take much movement for your image to be seen as less than sharp at normal to large sizes. I have the older Bogen version of the 190, the 3000, and while its build quality is OK, I do not use it with my D300 and long lenses.
