I recently considered replacing my existing Gitzo tripod for the equivalent, most recently released, model. In the event I decided not to do so. One reason was that I learned from the following video (from 0:50m to 1:22m) that the spikes of the latest version Gitzo tripods are permanently secured to the legs:
Those with older version Gitzo tripods will know that the spikes normally can be removed/replaced.
It seems odd that Gitzo would introduce such a design change. Therefore, to address the issue once and for all, can anyone with a latest version Gitzo tripod inform me if the spikes can, or cannot, be removed from the legs?
