I had not considered, but cannot ignore, the thought that a tripod shot will be more "thoughtful" and, therefore, better composed. WOW. Something to really think about.
I have the Manfrotto 3021BPRO which I've had for quite a while. Looking at specs on the new carbon fiber models, it looks like I could save a couple of pounds by getting a carbon fiber and maybe that would be helpful in reducing my resistance to using the tripod (although I am sure the time to set up is also discouraging my use).
I think I need to spend some more time in this tripod forum.
