Hi Neal,

I've always felt that a laptop is too heavy to balance on most tripods with a camera on the other end of a lever. Plus vibrations from the hard drive, system fan, etc.

Hal, the Lighting Forum mod, does this but I believe he does it on a Gitzo Series 5, which is a quite beefy and expensive tripod. I think I would want a Series 5 too, if I had to do that.

I think it is better done with a separate tripod, in order to get the weight centered over the mount and isolate the laptop vibrations.

I don't think anything has changed here in anyone's thinking but the subject does not come up very often.
