Yes - replacing your ball head will help. Ball head creep is a very annoying characteristic of some ball heads. I'm not going to disparage the Giottos ball heads because I don't have any experience with them. However, there are ball heads out there that we know will not creep - Markins, Arca-Swiss, RRS, and Kirk all have reputations for solid locking without creep. There may be others as well, but these brands are a sure bet.
