"Using tripod on a cruise ship."

Hi,

In November I will be on a ship off the coast of Australia and I'm planning on giving it a go to photograph the total solar eclipse that will take place. Is there any secret or special feet for the tripod that would help me to have better photos? Have a Gitzo tripod.

Thanks,
Gail
