During the past few weeks I have utilized my RRS tripod system and could not be more pleased, especially with HDR. The RRS products I purchased are easy to use, extremelty solid, packs small, lightweight and part of an accessory system that is quite extensive.
Currently with HDR, I am using NIK HDR Pro Efex 2 software with the D800E normally merging three photos and, more often than not, extending the tripod center column up to the maximum level.
After examining the final results under a loupe, they are perfect with the exception of water that occasionally moves. In my opinion, HDR under a loupe with the D800E is like a CT scan. It is incapable of lying. Under the conditions I have described with the RRS Series One tripod and the center column fully extended, there has been no issues whatsoever. It has been perfect.
I am grateful to Ned and Neil, the real experts, for sharing their knowledge.
