I have a D7000 and use the 70-200 f/2.8 VR. The ballhead I had was around $200 and I thought it would do what I wanted it to. However, it had a lot of creep in it and I could never get it adjusted to a small spot since it had the creep. Started searching this forum and read a lot of specs from different companies. Most cautioned against using a lever clamp unless you used plates from one vendor. I ended up getting the Markins Q10 because of the quoted "smoothness" allowed with the tension limiter screw (works great), RRS L bracket (fits snug and less expense compared to Kirk), and the Kirk LP 45 replacement foot. The L bracket and foot worked perfectly without any adjustments. The clamp closed very good and securely.
