Absolutely. I also have the D70 (not the D70s) but it's the same electronics and firmware. And I still think it feels just a smidgen more comfortable in the hand than my D90.
In case you're wondering about low light performance, it gets a little grainy but I find it to be a pleasant kind of grain. The man was shot at ISO 800 to keep the shutter speed up on a grey day, and the hotel was shot at night at ISO 1600. Click through to the large versions, those are 100% crops from the original images. (I do shoot RAW and convert with Lightroom: I actually can't say how mushy jpegs straight out of the camera are at the same ISOs.)
In good light at ISO 200 the camera is basically excellent. I too would always buy a body with a lens motor to have more lens buying options.
