"Is the D100 enough"

Hi there,
I have a F100, a coolscan IV and a couple of good lens (24-85 D/2.8 and 80-200 D/2.8). I am debating wheter I should drop my F100 and Coolscan towards a D100. My prints are usually aroung 14x11" and I am a student trying to concentrate on fashion photography.
So my question really is: is 6Mp enough or I should wait for the next camera? Do you guys that have the D1 series use it professionally and how?
Please keep in mind that as a student I won't have enough funds to keep switching to the next camera every year.
Any advice is appreciated,
Herbet.
