Until this past week I was dying to get the D100 - the sooner the better. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to play with one and made a few observations. It is indeed slow (read and write)and has, to me, an overly light feel (I presently shoot an F100). This is very subjective, I know.
There also, is the sharpness issue which will not go away and it does not seem to play well with flash ( www.dpreview.com ). I also was not happy with the small viewing screen.
All these things tied together are making me very hesitant to spend $2000 on a new camera body. Though it is minor let's not forget the recall on cameras with firm ware version 1.0.
I am finding that now that I have made the adjustment to spend $2000 it is not so hard to go another $2000 and buy a body that does not have any of the above problems and has the combined attributes of the F100 and the F5.
I would love to hear from any of you who might have similiar questions and, more important, direct comparisons between the two. I think my comfort zone is going to be better server with the D1X. Comments and additions, anyone?
