My reaction is that you are experiencing the exact same dreadful performance with alkalines as any other MB-D100 owner I've heard from.

I have heard of better performance using Lithium AAs in the MB-D100. I have never bothered to try them.

That is a GOOD question. That was one of the reasons I bought the MB-D100, and I am quite disappointed in this regard

I bought a second EN-EL3 battery when I bought my MB-D100.
