"RE: Keep in mind that the D100...HAS AUTO MODE"

Scott who originally started this thread about his experiences with his D100 and 5700 has now found satisfaction with a new D100, the original did have a problem, verified by his dealer and he is now a happy camper. I know of two others who having similar problems, ie. under-exposure and softness, had cameras replaced or repaired by Nikon and are now also happy photo takers. I know the D100 can be tweaked, customized, uploaded, and manipulated into fantastic photos.

What the heck does Auto do????

I believe most here have shot with film in the past, have some knowledge of SLR's, jumped into digital with 995's or 950's and then when the D100 came into being, in a price range that allowed all us film users to use our trusty Nikon SLR film lenses, we jumped at it with open arms. We expected the same type of Auto, Matrix metering system on all our film cameras and what we saw in the early Nikon digitals to do the same for us on the D100.

Well it seems to me all are comfirming my belief. The D100 breaks the tradition. Auto is for the Pros and it must be customized for us poor folk who just want a great picture out of the box to give to Mom when we visit.

I will load that tone curve to fix the under exposure, I will sharpen in corel, photoshop or whatever and I will live with this D100 or until I get the PROFESSIONAL D1x that in AUTO mode gives perfect Pics!!!

Brad

I always want the next model up!
