Nikon not offering a D400 may be a good thing for me. Money I had set aside when I retired this year for a new camera is still safely in the bank. Actually, I'm starting to think that a D7100 would be good enough given how fast bodies become outdated. My $1600 D300s is less than four years old and it already feels out of date compared to newer sensor technology.
One of the best landscape photographers in our state uses nothing but the D7000 and D7100. I'm just not sure it makes sense to me to spend $2000-$3000 on a camera that in all likelihood will be outdated in 5 years time.
For now I'm just sticking with my D300s, and getting the most out of it.
