Gaston - I like the idea of a couple fast primes and a camera. Am not in a position to act on that currently, but wow the new f/1.8 set all sound so absolutely fantastic (as do the f/1.4s).
Anyhow on the main topic, I replaced my D300 with a D7000, then D4, then D800E. The former two are sold, so for the first time in 7 years I am without any DX camera. When I go light I use my V1 system. It seems like a lot of guys I meet have gone with the D800, which is a ridiculously good camera. Man if Nikon could release a D800S with 8fps that would pretty much kill most peoples need for either a D710 or a D400 in one swoop.
Since Nikon refused to do the obvious and toss the D7000 sensor in a D400 camera a couple years ago, this makes me wonder if they've got something bigger planned for the D400, more than just the D7100 sensor with a larger buffer and processor this time around? I'm keen to see what is announced (Thom thinks this fall) and what is to come in intervening years for D800/D4 replacements. Meanwhile after a long hiatus on lens acquisitions, I'm suddenly hot on the idea of the new 80-400 VRII so that will be weighed in the balance for me when evaluating any new camera.
