I think we are pretty sure Canon will release the 7D MII. People are speculating that the price will be around $2200 USD. The Canon is suppose to be a 24 MP & 10 fps camera. Nikon can either release the D400 at a similar retail cost, or lose market share to Canon in the pro DX line.
One can argue about how good the Canon 100-400L zoom is, but the reality is they give shooters a lot more choices in lenses at difference price points. I hope that a D400 comes out, but after the last couple of years I am not totally convinced that it will be released.
If the D400 is not released, I will take very close look at the 7D MII and possibly two Canon lenses. I would sell the wife's D7000 and a couple of Nikon mount DX lenses. Frankly the other new Nikon bodies do not interest me, and Nikon will not get any more of my money if the D7XXX series is the top of the DX line.
