I have a D300 but my son "borrowed" it and I changed to a D200 with a vertical grip that solves the battery problem. The only thing I really miss is the rear display showing the current camera settings, especially at night.
The D200 images are great up to ISO800 which is all I need. The body fits my hands and I think I finally understand all the menus and focus modes!
Now that I can use the controls without taking my eye from the viewfinder it is unlikely I will upgrade until this camera breaks. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours mastering "new stuff". I just want to take pictures. My next purchases will be more lenses, probably AI-s models.
