Here is a quote from page 177 of the D200 manual:
"Negative voltages or voltages over 250 V applied to the accessory shoe could not only prevent normal operation, but damage the sync circuitry of the camera or flash." This also applies to the D200's PC terminal also.

If the Vivitar 2000 has a sync voltage of 200V, then it is within the specifications of the D200 - no Wein Safe-Sync needed.
