“Don't you think if Nikon saw the need for a pro DX body it would have made one?”
Canon is just as far behind as Nikon on the pro DX front and people are fully expecting them to update the 7D this year.
Will Nikon concede this market to Canon?
6 years is a long time but 2 years + were lost to the disasters in Japan and Thailand. These 2 years fell just at the time that these cameras (both the D300 and 7D) should have been updated. If they were at a critical stage of development – they may have had to start over from scratch after production came back on line.
If you had a 16 MP body almost ready for production and then you get hit with a 2 year shutdown/slowdown of all production - would you stick with that body and release it with 2 year old sensor tech? Or would you abandon that body and start over fresh to produce a new one that could be released with the newest sensor possible?
