Surely Nikon sees the need for a 'pro' level DX camera though?
I mean, the FX cameras are lovely...but what would I need to replace say a DX/ 300mm f.4 combo?
I'd have to buy a 500mm Nikkor (c.$10,000?) to get the same effect. I'm sure Nikon would like us all to spring for the top end big glass, but they must realise it can't happen. Too big- too heavy- too expensive!
There are lots of birders, aviation guys etc who really need the 'reach' of the DX crop. Are we to be abandoned?
Also, like many 'telephoto' users, I have a 300s. I wont be buying a D7100. The plusses of the 7100 (over the D300s) are few and there are some big negs. So I'll simply keep my 300s. (I'll not easily be talked into retiring my lovely D700 either!).
The 300s/ 700 combo is great- they both work the same!
If Nikon wish to sell me a new cam- they'll need to make one!
