And that is what we have been asking from the start: a D300 type body with a D300 type AF and the 16 MP D7000 sensor. In the past many nay-sayers argued that just changing the sensor is not possible.
What we get with the D7100 is a D7000 body with a 24 MP sensor and a D300 type AF. They just changed the sensor and threw in a better AF, but ignored the other build aspects. It still has the feeble D7000 buffer and frame rate.
