Indeed, but I guess there are many who are saying they want a D400 desperately and when announced with all the bells and whistles they wanted, they'll decline and buy a D7100 because of the price. I also think for what people are saying they want that your pricing is very optimistic. I would see it pitched between $2700 - 3750. What some are saying they want is a D800 with a DX sensor and that ain't going to be cheap!
I have asked the question here over the past year many times regarding the future of both DX and the possibility of the D400. My take now is that Nikon have settled into a DX range completed with the D7100. FX completed with the D600. On the basis that Nikon have a better idea than anyone what will and won't sell, I've discounted a D400.
