Yep, Len did a good job of covering this.

I use the custom setting of the function button (f4 on the custom menu - pick FV Lock/Lens Data as the option).
This makes it easy to use the the command and sub-command dials to change the focal length and aperture information, rather than going through the menu system.

I believe you need to not use matrix metering with a mirror lens.

The D200 has four shooting banks (A-D). You can program a non-CPU lens for each bank.

Non-AI lenses are a no-no.

I have a Nikon eyepiece magnifier (from my FM/N70 days) that is useful for critical focusing. It flips up, so you can see the entire viewfinder, and flips down to magnify the central area. Poor man's live view, I guess...
