>Maybe Nikon needs to comeup with an android based, >camera-centric smartphone as well. > No, no, no, no, no, no.
This type of thing is exactly what I was saying is wrong for Nikon when I said it was becoming a sheep. Leave this kind of innovative tech to the low/middle position companies we expect it from; e.g., Samsung.
Nikon needs to concentrate on serving the top end market with a better thought out range of cameras to meet the real needs of the quality camera market. There is a need for a pro DX model (higher resolution, pro controls, etc) right now. Maybe it should have WiFi and GPS built in, but there is no need to mimic smartphones - that is not quality camera territory.
Nikon has a hole in its range for a D400. It needs to concentrate on filling such gaps by doing what it already does well, not by chasing after innovations that are 'fashion' people can get elsewhere; e.g., the V and J series cameras that are suffering from disappointing sales. Take a hint from the sales figures, Nikon!
