I was looking for lower noise high-ISO performance. The D7100 has ISO 100-6400, extended to 25,600. I'll wait to see how testing in the hands of the various photo sites comes out, but usually the settings that Nikon calls extended produce very noisy pictures. Now, at face value, ISO 6400 is an improvement over 3200. But I was really hoping for more than that.
I understand why they went to 24 megapixels. Most people think bigger is always better, and that's the way they perceive more megapixels. But I sure would like to have a camera with 12 megapixels that would shoot low noise pictures at 25,600. Higher ISO than that would be even better.
