Nikon (and Canon, etc...) still sell far more DX cameras than FX - and I for one don't see that changing anytime soon, whatever does (or doesn't) come along at the top end of the DX range.
Because Nikonians is a place where a very high proportion of the membership is enthusiastic about photography and their equipment, we tend to get an unbalanced impression of the overall marketplace. In the wider world, the majority of people who want a DSLR don't want the extra expense or bulk of FX. For them, a D3200, D5200 (or D7200...?) - or future generations of these cameras - and a DX lens or two will be all they ever need
