There will definitely be a D7000 or D300s replacement by the end of this (new) year...and possibly even both. I know this b/c it's safe to say Nikon wouldn't abandon all DX above D5200 level. Just common sense and good business strategy.
Case 1: both directly replaced with 2 different bodies
Case 2: Only D7000 replaced
Case 3: Only D300s replaced
Case 4: something between the two replaces both with one body
1 or 4 would be the best outcomes. I'd say 4 is the most likely, followed by 1, followed by 2, followed by 3. But my guess is as good as anyone's.
There are rumors that both Nikon and Canon may drop a DX (APS sensor) body from their lineup next cycle.
