I use my D70 for IR photography with a Tiffen 87R filter. You should be able to do the same. Eric is right the D100 like the D70's IR filter is not as strong as those today. I have exposure times from 1sec to 5sec depending on the scene. You have to focus before you put the filter on, but you can adjust exposure with the filter on. Actually works very well. I use a prime lens either the Nikkor 35 or 50mm. If you use a zoom lens you will tend to get a hot spot in the middle. There are web sites that list lens that are suitable for IR. However, each site seems to have a different list, so your best bet even with a prime lens is to test them. Some photographers use zooms wide open and that may eliminte the hot spot. Good luck and it is a lot of fun.
