I wouldn't waste time being embarrased. I would think that most of us have done the same thing at some time. I really cannot understand why Nikon decided to place that switch where they did. After all, it is just a switch, no mechanical linkage so it could be anywhere on the camera body, but they chose to put it right where it could get knocked and not be noticed. Even some sort of "push to turn" system would prevent it getting caught and turned by the tip of an accidental finger. They put a lock button on the "Shutter choice" ring, so why not on something that is: a) in the wrong place and b) easily moved without realising and c) is very annoying when it happens?
