Just my 2 pennys' worth.
I have this same set up with an MB D10. I did once find that, using my Sigma 150-500 for a lot of shots, in a short time, ran the main battery down relatively fast (The OS is shifting large weights of glass, after all) - the grip shifted to the internal battery without any problem and surprisingly shifted back for a few shots, presumably because the grip battery had recovered slightly.
I definitely like the extra size, having big hands I find the size, weight and shape fits me better than the bare camera.
