I looked at your pictures, and you are doing fine with your current setup ... Getting a D300s may not give you a big upgrade, but you would now have two cameras that allow you to use ISO 3200 with settings that you know, for a financial outlay that you can handle. The main reason you want a new camera now is to replace your failing D200. Getting a D600 now could get you into something you do not want at this time, and you might kick yourself if/once "the D400" is announced. Remember the D600 is essentially an FX version of the D7000. It reportedly has better AF than the D7000 but all the reasons why you did not get a D7000 are still there. Get a D300 for now, review your options sometime in teh spring.
