After one month with the first D300 sold in Monterey Bay, I decided it was already "outdated tech". I traded it back for a second D3. For me, that was an upgrade in every single way. If the the D300 is suited for hammering nails the D3 can do tent pegs.
Although I think the D600 is an improvement over the D300, it is not a logical upgrade. The D700 handles the same and is much more suited, and for my use, I prefer the D800.
