Hi Judy,

What are your shutter speed and aperture settings?

Are you trying this indoors or outside in daylight?

What is your metering mode - Spot? Center-weighted? Matrix?

Do you have the flash deployed?

Have you taken a picture like this? If so, can you upload the picture?

Unless you are using auto ISO exposure compensation does not work in manual. The shutter speed, aperture or ISO setting must change in order to adjust the exposure.
