All I know is this. I have a D700 and have had it for over 3 years, after all that time when I use it I feel gifted to have such a remarkable camera. I used to feel the same about my D300, but sadly sold it to buy the D700! Then I discovered I needed the 1.5 crop on my long lenses for wildlife, so I bought a D90. I really liked that camera too. I was just about to buy a D3oos when the D7000 came along the first body was faulty (to the doubters I say, "oh yes it was"), I persevered with a new D7000 and it is "OK", but only "OK". Personally, to this day I've wished I had bought the D300s.
To the true technocrats I know everything that's been said about superior, cutting edge technology anon, but all that said I really do not like my D7000. Sometimes like the new Mercedes I bought 6 years ago, one just does not feel at one with a product and the D7000 is one and my Mercedes was the other.
So, for a change there are no technical reasons not to like it, I just don't like the feel, the layout (apart from U1/U2), basically when I use it, it just feels clumsy. Sometimes I'm sure this happens to all of us, daft as it is and sounds
