I know that the conventional wisdom is that live view will help a lot when manually focusing while using a tripod. However, my experience when using 400mm or 500mm lenses is that the LV image still appears to be shaking. These lenses are very susceptible to even the slightest camera shake. I have tried placing a bean bag over the barrel, but still find it hard to get that image to remain steady enough to nail the focus.
What are your experiences in this area?
