Not knowing what ADR is I looked it up on the web and got some vague references. Some people say the ADR stands for Active D-Lighting, others say it stands for Adaptive Dynamic Range.

I assume from your post it's the latter, since you say the D300 doesn't have this feature.

Can you explain what ADR actually is and what it does please?
