Swap - interesting idea Not totally against it either, just not good timing. We have two big trips coming up in the next 6 weeks so I will really need the D700 for low light (rain forest) stuff. I prefer it even to the D800 for low light/high ISO shooting (I rate the D800 about the same as the D7000 I had a while back in that regard.) Anyway, thanks for the input. I had a D7000 for a year and was never crazy about it (though not for reasons I can really quantify) and only thought the D300 might an interesting choice at this point, given a lot of what I read outside of this forum regarding color saturation, contrast and some other image-quality issues that appealed to me. And since I assume I would be getting a D400 at some point in whatever distant future they become available, the cheaper option would make sense..
So indeed, the chance to use one for a time actually appeals to me.. (my wife has my D7000 so that wouldn;t really be an issue..) Dennis
