Hi Dennis. For what it's worth, I shoot with two D300S bodies and love it. Having the same controls is huge for me, and I didn't like the "feel" of the D7000 in my hands. In addition, the build quality and weather sealing is supposed to be better in the D300/D300S series. If those factors are irrelevant to you, a D7000 's advantages as mentioned here by other posters should swing you to the D7000.
