Thanks Charlie. The crop parameter makes sense, but I have to balance it with a few others: the D300 is a few hundred cheaper (used) I already have a grip for the D300 I have read quite a few reports on other forums that the contrast and color of the D300 is better. But of course this is all second hand. I did have a D7000 for a year and it was fine using ISO under 800 or so in low light or higher ISO in brighter light, but I wasn't crazy about it overall.
So you don't see any advantages in IQ or color quality or contrast in your images with the D300? Thanks again. Dennis
