Alex,

The aperture can only be changed on the lens itself. Spinning the dial under my right thumb only seems to change apparent exposure time, which in A mode should be determined by the camera anyway.
I change to another lens and it seems to work better, but it's night, so I'm not sure.
I take it you mean to use the lens for aperture adjustment like it was originally intended to be used and leave the camera dials alone?
