True. But I don't see why the "extra" pixels can not be used to significantly improve the dynamic range. Technically not a big deal, IMHO. Cover every alternate sensor with a 3.5 stop gray filter. Then combine the shifted images into one image right in the camera into one image withe a close to 7 stop dynamic range.
That feature would make me pre-order a D400.
Not many people seem to care about the dynamic range. Maybe a DSLR with a 7-stop dynamic range would convert some of the die-hard film camera buffs
