Thanks Jim, well explained. I have seen some fantastic images on the wildlife forum, but still think I'll wait for old shoes too. I find my D700 plenty for my landscapes, but for my wildlife I prefer to wait for an upgrade. Possibly that upgrade may never come if the Nikon world goes almost completely FX at the higher end.
I feel to go to the D800 may be a hasty bet as I feel my FX requirements are already covered. It's my D7000 I wish to replace and realise under current DX ranges I'm probably better off than D300 users.
