Sounds good reasoning. I am discussing the issues raised here on other forum threads and will be extremely disppointed if the D400 doesn't appear before the Autumn. It seems possible that an FX D600 will be the next to arrive and if so I think Nikon have suffered a sudden rush of blood to the head! They have a massive DX customer base and yes I know all the arguments about the D800 and a future D600 being dual FX and DX. The jury's certainly out regarding the D800 on fps alone. If the D800 could have effectively given 8fps then I think they may have been on to something which would suit us birders.
I am fast becoming bored with all the rumours and ending up with nothing for us. Perhaps, I'll be best sticking to my D700 for landscapes and D7000 for wildlife for a few years and even skip a generation until all settles down. If I do I shall invest in glass.
If I was a D800 pre order customer I be getting pretty fed up as there seem to be inordinate delays, later pre-order customers were expected to pay more too. As it is I'm getting fed up anyway because my and many wildlife shooters needs are not being satisfied.
