It is not suffering very much. The D800 provides both resolutiom and better high ISO performance than the D3 and D700. It is only slightly behind the D4 which is slightly behind the D3s in high ISO performance. It will be interesting to see how the 24MP sensor in the D3200 performs compared to the D7000 and D5100. I suspect it will be at least as good if not better. Given that both bodies have better high ISO performance than the D300/D300s we may be able to have our cake and eat it too.
