I just got word that my D300s has shipped and should be here Thursday. I've been using a D70 since 2005, and it has been a great camera. I will be keeping it as a second/backup/spare. That camera was my first DSLR and my first Nikon. I came over from 35mm Minoltas (I have still have an X700 which I really like).
I consider myself a hobbyist as I don't earn my living with a camera. I find myself getting considerably more serious about my hobby in recent years, hence the more serious camera hardware.
My question is, what should I be thinking about, switching over from a more consumer-oriented body (D70), to the D300? I've already set about getting better lenses, but I'd take any recommendations from those more experienced with this platform (and photography in general).
I did note the checklist, and I will walk through it, even with a new camera.
